Michael Dye - Abstract Artist
Michael has been intermittently pursuing art for the past twenty-five years. Recently, he has rekindled his passion and begun creating stunning works using a collage layering technique. With over thirty years of experience in fashion as both a stylist and creative director, he brings a well-honed eye for shape and color balance to his artistic endeavors.

"My journey in art began nearly 28 years ago when I first arrived in Italy. At that time, I explored abstract painting, but eventually, I took a long break from wielding a paintbrush.
Recently, amidst the unsettling turmoil in the world, I felt a newfound inspiration. One morning, an idea that had been lingering in my mind for years finally materialized into a style that is uniquely my own. As I continue to create, I've noticed that each painting tells a story, reflecting both my past experiences and my quest to understand the future. People are drawn to certain paintings as if they can perceive their own dreams and narratives within the depths of the vision on canvas."
Why do I paint make art and how does it change me?
To me, art serves as a form of escape, and I believe many others feel the same way. When I work on my art, it feels as though I am a vessel for energy and creativity, gratefully embracing this gift. Each piece I create becomes a unique story told through my artistic expression, and completing it fills me with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.
What message do you want to convey? What does your artwork say?
Michael's art speaks a powerful message of courage, urging others not to be fearful but to embrace boldness and have faith in their beliefs. The process of creation involves exploring various emotions, sometimes leading to producing something incredible, only to dismantle it and build anew. His journey of continuous growth and development requires experiencing all types of emotions to fuel the creative spirit.
Does your technique have a name? What does the process represent?
Michael's technique of using a multi-layered mixed media can be likened to a millefeuille, a beautiful analogy for the intricate layers that compose your art. Each layer represents a part of your life, serving as a personal history and an encyclopedia of your past and present experiences. It's a unique and meaningful way to express your journey and emotions through your art.
